Issue Forecast v2, an Atlassian plugin for JIRA, 2024

This lates version of the Issue Forecast plugin generates a report showing prediction dates of completion for a project’s in-progress or planned work. The predictions are broken out into different confidence levels. Each prediction is based on a series of simulated issues resolution cadences using the projects recent history. This issue completion forecast is most useful for projects using a JIRA Kanban board. The major change from the previous version was a total conversion to the “native” Atlassian Forge framework (Nodejs and React), improving the security and overall performance. This plugin will be available in the Atlassian Marketplace in 2024.

Redhat Satellite (theforman/katello), 2019-2022

Redhat Satellite is a product management suite that includes a branded version of the open source Rails application theforeman. Katello provides content (package) management as a Rails plugin (engine) for theforeman. My role in the Katello group was a Senior Software Engineer. In addition to contributing to the application itself (fixing defects, integrating support libraries such as Pulp), I also assisted the team in reviewing pull requests submitted by the open source community. I participated publicly recorded YouTube demonstrations of completed work. I also took on additional responsibilities in facilitating a bug triage process for the whole Satellite organization.

Bravewriter, 2015-2017

Bravewriter is thriving learning management system and online discussion forum for English language grammar, composition, and literature. Thousands of families interact with this site for their home school education needs every semester. My contribution was to design and implement a course registration system to integrate with the existing discussion forums. This included a payment processor option to allow direct purchase of all classes without the long, error prone process of sending in payments by mail or fax. The follow on work involved shifting the user interface to a new design and conducting the technical work involved.
Spoonflower, 2012-2014

Spoonflower was one of the world’s first direct to consumer fabric print on demand sites. I shifted the original site with extensive devops support from an antiquated AWS installation into a more manageable cloud presence. I continued to consult with the engineering team at Spoonflower, mentoring junior engineers in TDD, refactoring, migration from Rails 2.x to 3.x, and scaling the application to meet the needs of their expanding user base. I also contributed to some of the early efforts at factory automation and integration with their Rails application back-end systems.
